How would it feel, as a parent, to be able to send this message? (See inside)
We recently received this message from a parent in our All-Inclusive, 4-Year, Start to Finish College Confidence Program. This is why we do what we do...to help change family's lives. Super cool to see and brought a small tear to my eye:
That's a real message from a real family whose lives are changed forever. Emily (HS senior) had one chance to apply to her dream school, Notre Dame. Just one. And thanks to her hard-work (and yes, our guidance on how to stand out from the sea of applicants)...she made her one chance count. And her mother helped her make her one chance count by finding us!
She's off to Notre Dame, her life trajectory changed forever...
...which got me thinking.
How would you, as a parent of a high schooler, feel...if you got to write the exact same message that Katie (Emily's mother) wrote above? If you knew that your teenager you've raised for ~18 years was off to four years at their dream college?
This isn't a fake request, or some kind of marketing ploy. '
It's a real question I have.
I am not a parent of a high schooler. I can only relay my experiences as a former high schooler, myself. And the feelings I had when I got the call that I had been accepted to Vanderbilt were feelings I'd never had previously (or since!). Truly one of a kind elation.
But again, I'm not a parent
So I'm calling all parents out there, and will ask the question again below. Reply here with your answer. I'll take what I feel to be the most inspiring, heartfelt answer, and will reach out to you personally with some insights to see if I can help bring that vision to reality for you.

The answer is, if you truly care about giving your high schooler the best chance of college planning success, you should start NOW. 9th grade is not too early to start! 10th grade is certainly not too early to start! And 11th grade is far, far too late! (supporting data here to show just how much of an advantage you give your child by starting the process early).
