Meet Chanin (Mother) & Anna Kate (HS Junior), Trophy Club, TX

Meet Anna Kate and her mother, Chanin. We had the opportunity to meet these two, along with Anna Kate’s father, a couple of weeks back. What really impressed us with Anna Kate was how much work she had already put in to set up a strong foundation for her college planning process. What we really want is to ensure that hard work doesn’t go to waste!

This case study originally highlighted in June 2021

As a quick aside, here are the four categories (in order of importance) college application reviewers care about:

  1. HS grades and the rigor of classes taken

  2. Standardized test scores (in a global pandemic, this became optional.  More on that in my previous blog post here)

  3. The college essay(s)

  4. "Your story" (extracurriculars, leadership activities...but even more importantly, how you wrap this into a package and present it to admissions)

As a HS junior, Anna Kate had categories 1 & 2 covered (let us be clear--when we were her age, we certainly did not have those categories completely figured out yet...this is rare and exceptional). This is the strong foundation we talked about.

There is no doubt in our mind Anna Kate has Ivy League potential, if she wants it.  However, this was actually one of their main stress points! They didn’t quite know how to figure out what she wants in the next stage of her life.  Which schools are a real fit?  Anyone can look up US News & World Report school rankings...but most students & parents, including Anna Kate and Chanin, don’t have a great process for really, truly, determining where they’ll be happy!

Let’s break it down:

Who? Anna Kate (HS junior) & Chanin (her mother)
Problem: No system in place for determining schools that are truly a fit for Anna Kate, schools where she’ll be happy.  Secondary problem: understanding how to stand out in tiers 3 and 4 of admissions (see above)...when everyone at the top-25 schools has grades & test scores, how do you actually separate yourself?
Solution: Join The Start-to-Finish, All-Inclusive College Confidence Program

Did it work? "SO RELIEVED" (direct quote from Chanin) seems like a good place to start!

As a high school parent, do you feel stress or unease when that "college" word is brought up as it relates to your child? Do you feel like perhaps, deep down, there is more you could do to put your child in the best possible position for college admissions success & happiness...and at the same time ease your own worries?

If so, you're not alone!  Thousands of high school parents feel the same way.

You, too, can feel "SO RELIEVED" just like fellow parent, Chanin.  There is a better, more enjoyable, more successful, less stressful college planning method out there! We promise you (and we think Chanin would say the same).

P.S. - Have a high-performing high schooler w/ a 3.7 GPA or higher? We specialize in changing the lives of students just like this, giving them the right structure, mentorship, and accountability to excel in high school...and ultimately gain admission into the college of their dreams.  We do it year after year after year It's not rocket science.  But it is a science.

P.P.S - Our most common question is "When should we start?!"  The answer is, if you truly care about giving your high schooler the best chance of college planning success, you should start NOW. 9th grade is not too early to start! 10th grade is certainly not too early to start! And 11th grade is far, far too late! (supporting data here to show just how much of an advantage you give your child by starting the process early).
